sf bay oil spill

so sad; i woke up to news of beach closures resulting from major oil spill in our sf bay yesterday. i checked local surf reports (surfline, wavewatch) no mention of oil spill, damage, closures. any news from local spots? i haven't been to the beach yet today; my heart is heavy thinking about all the sea creatures (including us surfers) who will feel the ongoing effects of this mess...
Yeah truly sad. Reports this morning are of heavy presence of gasoline smell at the beaches, beach closures from south of OB up to Stinson, and at least a few days of unsafe water conditions.
JohnA second-hand story I heard was from a friend of a friend who was susrfing Ft. Point yesterday morning and had to get out due to the oil slick. he was then decontanimated by the coast gaurd as they officiall closed access to the water. Great way to end your surf session, no?
Unforunatley surfing right now is a poor decision in the immediate vasinity. Time for a road trip to catch waves!
