i had a dream...
Ignorance is the failure to discriminate between the permanent and the impermanent, the pure and the impure, bliss and suffering, the Self and the non-Self.
-The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, 2:5
had a dream last night i was paddling out and realized that out on the horizon the ocean was exploding from underneath-- crazy insane massive tsunami type of waves-- then huge molten lava falling from the sky. (picture end of the world kinda thing going on) all the surfers were frantically paddling in the same direction, leaving no one behind. a sense of unity born out of a desperation to survive. very intense. what does it all mean? don't know, maybe i'm just stressed out-- (i was working on my bloody taxes all day yesterday) but i needed to vent, get it off my chest, and just in case i am some kind of freaky clairvoyant, thought i should share with ya'll...
ok, gonna go get wet... norcal's been crankin, i've been missin out! aloha
holy crap! heads up sf bay
i can't believe this-- now 3 million gallons of "partially treated" sewage spilled into our sf bay last night! (just watched story on kron4 news.) holy negligence. first oil, now crap. feels like i just got back in the water... now what? grrrrrrrrrr. grumpy mermaid. news of beach closures once again... surf at your own risk locally
pearls of wisdom...
"Therefore, Ananda, do not be the judge of people; do not make assumptions about others. A person is destroyed by holding judgments about others."
-Anguttura Nikaya, From "Teachings of the Buddha," edited by Jack Kornfield, 1993.
i thought this quote was relevant to the current dialogue. i did not know davi or his circumstances; but i do know human suffering, and i empathize with him. i am thankful to be able to surf, to be able to head to the beach and rejuvenate my spirit as needed-- my preferred remedy for the blues... to quote a fellow surfer, "without surfing... i'd be downtown!"
aloha
